Increased Risk: Alabama Included in Walmart Broth Recall Update
A recent Walmart recall seems to have gotten a bit worse. The original recall included Alabama in the nine affected states and the risk level has just increased.

Earlier this month, it was reported that a total of 2,023 cases of the chicken broth were included in the recall, each case containing six cartons. These items are marked with a "best used by" date of March 25, 2026, and feature the UPC code "007874206684."
The recalled broth has now been updated to a Class II risk level by the FDA.
According to the FDA's website, a "Class II" recall means: "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
A company spokesperson reassured customers, saying, "The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority. As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we took action to remove all impacted products from select stores."
The broth was sold in Walmart stores in nine U.S. states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
If you have purchased any of these recalled chicken broth cartons, it’s recommended that you discard them and request a full refund. Walmart is working with the supplier to investigate the issue further.

For those with leftover broth, it's important to note that once opened, it should be refrigerated for no more than three to four days. If you’re unsure whether the broth is still safe to consume, any strange odors, discoloration, or mold are signs that it has spoiled and should not be consumed. Spoiled chicken broth can cause food poisoning, so always err on the side of caution.
Shelf-stable chicken broth can last for years if stored properly in a pantry, but once opened, leftovers can be frozen for up to three months. If you suspect you have a recalled carton, contact Walmart directly for assistance.
Stay safe and check your pantry if you’ve recently shopped at Walmart!
