It's safe to say that 800 pounds of marijuana could be considered a "large sum" of drugs.

Authorities say the man was on the side of the highway, and they were responding to a call related to a "stranded motorist".

Deputies said that after arriving to help the driver, Clarance Shipman, they found multiple trash bags in the cargo bay stuffed with marijuana.

According to a report, police said the drugs were being transported from Los Angeles to North Carolina by Shipman, who resides in Alabama.

Authorities also say those 800 pounds of marijuana have a street value in excess of $1,000,000.

Shipman is now being held in the Posey County Jail on charges of felony dealing marijuana.
