A wine company has polled Americans, including Alabamians, to see what we don’t want to talk about at the Thanksgiving table.

Here are the topics to avoid:

1. Politics. If you watch Fox News and they watch CNN, don’t even consider going there.

2. Money. Avoid asking “How much are you making these days?”

3. Weight. Avoid talking about portion sizes and how many calories are in what’s on another person’s plate.

4. Religion. Of course, there will be a blessing prayer before the meal, but avoid “arguing” religious beliefs.

5. Relationship Status. Avoid asking anybody, “Why aren’t you married yet?”

6. Family Members. Avoid gossiping about somebody who isn’t there. Or somebody’s ex.

7. Football. Talking sports is one thing, but if you’re at a divided table….Alabama and Auburn fans…don’t let the conversation turn ugly.

Remember, a good can’t go wrong response in Alabama is “Bless their heart”.

Maybe the safest place to be is at the kids’ table.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends and neighbors!
