A woman’s dead body was discovered at her home and had reportedly been there for weeks.
The Blount County Sheriff’s Department says the woman’s body had been partially eaten by her dogs.
The body was found in the yard where she had two dogs confined by wireless perimeter collars.
Authorities believe the woman had been dead for about 7 weeks. She died of natural causes. The dogs had access to her remains. The dogs had not been fed and were confined to the yard.
The animals had to be put down. The sheriff’s department said they were considered a biohazard after eating human remains.
