Yesterday, the nation celebrated Independence Day. Many Alabamians will take advantage of the extended holiday weekend to enjoy festivities and relaxation.

Friday Outlook

Portions of Alabama have experienced heavy rain, gusty winds, rumbles of thunder, and lighting.

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said that “additional showers and storms will form over the rest of the state later in the day ahead of a surface front; odds of any one spot seeing rain today are 60-70 percent.”

Saturday and Sunday

“Drier air will temporarily enter the northern counties of the state, meaning the best chance of scattered showers and storms tomorrow and Sunday will be across South Alabama,” said Spann.
