Showers and thunderstorms are impacting various sections of Alabama tonight. Looking ahead to “scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across the state through tomorrow ahead of an upper trough and cold front,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.

The Storm Prediction Center has the southern two-thirds of the state under a marginal risk for strong to severe storms tomorrow. There are a few West Alabama counties that are in the risk zone, including a small section of Green and Hale, as well as all of Bibb and Perry counties.

The primary threats associated with the Thursday storms are damaging winds of up to 60 mph, along with a chance of small hail.

This also means an influx of wet weather, and for many Alabamians, the rain has been welcomed to the area. Spann said that “most Alabama communities have a good chance of seeing one inch of rain between now and tomorrow night, some spots could see more.”
