But the question on most people’s minds is: what winter will be like this year? Will it be what we traditionally expect for Alabama and the rest of the Southeast? Or could it be unusual like that of the blizzard of 1993?

We have all kinds of sources for predicting what will happen in the 2023 winter season. One of the oldest sources is the Farmer’s Almanac. Every year since 1818, the Almanac has used its weather predicting formula to tell us not only about winter but the weather for the whole year.

What does the Farmer’s Almanac say about Winter in Alabama?

The Almanac predicts that the Southeast will see a much wetter winter in 2023. The temperatures should be around the same as we traditionally see for the winter months. However, we may see a few frosts come through as well.

What about the first part of 2024?

If the formula is correct, Alabama will see unseasonably low temperatures in the middle of February according to the Almanac. The Farmer’s Almanac doesn’t always get it right, but it has been a useful resource over the years. We can guess what the weather will be, but nature has the final say.
