That's why she chose to start the WOTG organization and spotlight these local heroes in our community.
This month, we're featuring the life and amazing accomplishments of Judge Carole Smitherman.
Carole Smitherman is a prominent judge from Alabama who has made significant contributions to the state’s legal system. Born and raised in Birmingham, Smitherman’s early life shaped her deep commitment to public service.
Smitherman has a law degree from Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama, where she excelled academically and earned a reputation for her legal acumen.
Her career in public service began decades ago when she worked as an assistant district attorney for Jefferson County.
Smitherman developed a reputation for her dedication to justice, handling cases ranging from drug offenses to violent crimes. Her ability to reach those who came before her bench and, in addition to judging their crimes, to judge them became well known across Alabama.
Judge Smitherman cares about each and every young man or woman who has stood before her in a court of law.
