Dangerously cold wind chills ranging from just below zero to single digits above zero are expected.

Extreme Cold Watch

Saturday, January 31, starting at Noon until Sunday, February 1 at Noon

Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 2 degrees above possible.

Dangerous Wind Chills

Please think about wind chill values as how cold it truly feels. The projected wind chill value indices are alarming because areas could be at just below zero or in the single digits.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that “The worst of conditions for Central Alabama will be overnight Friday to Sunday morning. That's when we'll have the cold + wind combo.”

Wind Gusts

Also, there is a possibility of wind gusts from Friday night into early Sunday morning, between 15-20 mph, with some gusts up to 35 mph.

Snow?

James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief, said, “As the cold air rushes into the state, a few snow flurries or snow showers are likely over the northern 2/3 of the state tonight and tomorrow morning. While many places won't see a single snowflake, there could be a few heavier snow showers that bring some light accumulation to scattered places, along with icy spots on roads.”
