BREAKING: 1 Dead in Wednesday Night Shooting in Tuscaloosa, 20-Year-Old Arrested
Another shooting in Tuscaloosa has left a person dead Wednesday night.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, alerted local media of the homicide at 11 p.m.
Sellers said the Tuscaloosa Police Department and the VCU are in the 3100 block of 2nd Avenue on a shooting. A male there is shot and deceased on the scene, Sellers said.
In a follow-up email, VCU Commander Jack Kennedy said investigators have already made an arrest.
Kennedy said Mikal Rashaun Kirkman, 20, has been charged with one count of murder and placed in the Tuscaloosa County jail without bond per Aniah’s Law. The motive is still under investigation.
This is the seventh homicide in Tuscaloosa County so far in 2024.
