In a follow-up email, VCU Commander Jack Kennedy said investigators have already made an arrest.

Kennedy said Mikal Rashaun Kirkman, 20, has been charged with one count of murder and placed in the Tuscaloosa County jail without bond per Aniah’s Law. The motive is still under investigation.
