Not surprisingly, Alabama's Republican dominated Congressional Delegation is blasting Democrats for the continued government shutdown. Taking the other point of view is the est Democrat house member.

Alabama Republican U.S. Senators Tommy. Tuberville and Katie Britt voted with fellow Republicans Wednesday to advance the GOP stopgap funding bill Wednesday. It was blocked by Democrats, thus continuing the federal government shutdown and prompting responses from both Alabama Senators.

“We’re just waiting on the Democrats to come to their senses and quit trying to hold the country hostage, that’s all they’re doing,” Tuberville told Fox News. "Chuck Schumer and his party seem to forget that they're here working for the American people,"

In an interview with ABC News Live, Britt said Republicans are prepared to work immediately to reopen the government, urging Democrats to return to the negotiating table.

“Look, we’re ready to open the government today. We have a lot of work to do for the American people, and Republicans stand ready to do that,” Britt said.

West Alabama GOP Congressman Robert Aderholt, who is back home in the 4th District, told constituents “Right now, there’s nothing that’s on the table that we have to vote for, and so we are just sort of in a holding pattern waiting on the Senate."

West Alabama Democrat Congresswoman Terri Sewell, in a Telephone Town Hall last night defended her party's actions, "We are willing to work with Republicans on a bill to end this shutdown and protect the healthcare of the American people," she told her audience. "However, we will not vote to rubber-stamp the Republican assault on our healthcare system." She added that it is time for Republicans to come to their senses and meet Democrats as the negotiating table.

Washington observers do not see an end to the budget logjam anytime soon.
