A West Alabama man was killed Saturday in a two-vehicle crash near his home in Sumter County, State Troopers said on Sunday.

Sergeant Reginal M. King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said 68-year-old Ellis Bibbs was driving a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck which collided with a 2021 Ford Expedition being operated by a 73-year-old Livingston woman.

Bibbs, who also lived in Livingston, had his truck leave the roadway and strike a tree. He was taken to a hospital in Meridian, Mississippi, where King said he later succumbed to his injuries and died.

The driver of the Expedition was also hospitalized and treated in Mississippi.

King said the crash happened on Alabama 28 near the 11 mile marker, three miles outside of Livingston, in Sumter County.

No other information was available on Sunday, and King said ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the deadly accident.
