Inside, a man was suffering from two gunshot wounds that do not appear to be life-threatening.

In the charging documents, police said the victim lived in the apartment with his girlfriend and another man, Jeremy Bell, who has fathered children with the woman in the past.

Police say Bell, who is 31, entered a bedroom in the back of the apartment and "started shooting at the victim with no provocation."

Officers say Bell was firing a .22-caliber handgun, a small round that can still prove deadly if it strikes vital organs, and shot the victim two times, once in the leg and once in the gut.

Bell then allegedly fled the area on foot but was arrested a short time later by Tuscaloosa Police officers who were patrolling in the area.

The victim was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he was reportedly in stable condition, and Bell was interviewed by investigators with the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.

Bell allegedly admitted to shooting the other man, and he has been charged with a single count of attempted murder.

He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where his bond has been set at $60,000. His mugshot was not available on the jail website Wednesday afternoon.
