A man wanted in Mississippi for crimes, including arson, was arrested in Tuscaloosa following a car pursuit that occurred as deputies attempted to apprehend him Thursday.

Kemper County Sheriff James Moore told the outlet an investigation into the allegations was launched and evidence connected Roby to a house fire that occurred Wednesday where the home was destroyed and the family's dog was killed.
Sergeant Josh Hastings, a Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, said a request was made by Kemper County to take Roby into custody after it was determined he was working at a business in Vance.
Hastings said units set up an area near Roby's place of employment and initiated a traffic stop after his vehicle was located. Roby fled the scene and abandoned his vehicle on I-20/59 near exit 89.
Roby was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit where he was charged with one count of attempting to elude. He was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail where he is being held on a $3,000 bond.
Moore said Roby was charged with two counts of cyberstalking/email threats and harassment and two counts of arson. Roby will be extradited to Kemper County once the charges in Tuscaloosa are resolved.
