The city of Northport will follow up on the success of its first-ever Veterans Day Parade and bring the event back again bigger and better this year.

In a Friday press release, a city spokeswoman said the parade will be held on the day of the holiday, November 11th, and will be "grander and more heartfelt than ever before."

The celebration will kick off with an opening ceremony at 8 a.m. at Tuscaloosa County High School Memorial on 24th Street and the parade will follow at 8:30, running along Main Avenue and culminating in historic downtown Northport.

The city is asking local businesses, schools and community organizations to participate and support area veterans by decorating floats, ordering a customized banner or sending messages to area veterans.
