Meet Northport, Alabama Mayoral Candidate Roland Lewis
Some people wonder why you would even want to take a stab at running for any office in Northport, Alabama.
It seems more and more that Northport is becoming an angry and, at times, hateful place to try to serve your community if you are an elected official.

Just take a look at social media anytime a Northport councilman is being discussed or an issue is being talked about, and often it will turn into an unpleasant place.
The fourth candidate for mayor of Northport, Roland Lewis, whom we have interviewed and profiled, claims that “an unpleasant political environment" is the reason why he is running for mayor.
Lewis aims to bring the community together, and as he puts it, at the end of the day, he will sleep just fine if residents understand he desires to do what is best for the city of Northport.
He also believes the controversial University Beach project is too far down the road to continue arguing that it is being built, because that "ship has already sailed."
Now, Lewis believes the idea is to make sure that people living in Northport benefit from the project as much as possible and that it is also affordable for locals to enjoy, along with tourists from other cities.
Roland Lewis was interviewed on the Steve & DC show on WFFN-FM (95.3 The Bear) radio, and it can be listened to below.
Tonight is the chance for Northport residents to get up close and personal with each candidate for mayor during an event hosted by the League of Women Voters of Greater Tuscaloosa.
The forum with Roland Lewis, David Crawford, Jason Barksdale, and Dale Phillips begins at 6 pm tonight at the Northport Community Center.
