A person is dead after an officer-involved shooting at a Tuscaloosa fast-food restaurant early Saturday morning.

Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were at the Whataburger on McFarland Boulevard at 3 a.m. Saturday on an officer-involved shooting.

He said a suspect was shot and killed but did not immediately share any additional details.

VCU Investigators not affiliated with the Tuscaloosa Police Department are working the case, Sellers said.

It is the third deadly TPD shooting since December and the 18th homicide the VCU has investigated so far this year.
