Juneteenth is right around the corner, and Alabama residents who want to get in on the celebration have a full day of activities available this Saturday.

Both these events are organized by the Tuscaloosa's Branch of the NAACP, a community service organization.

Juneteenth Parade

The day will kick off with a special parade featuring organizations and groups from Tuscaloosa and surrounding counties. The route will start at Westlawn Middle School and end at the McDonald Hughes Community Center.

LINE-UP FOR PARADE

  • Starts 9 a.m.
  • At Westlawn Middle School, 1715 Martin Luther King Blvd

PARADE:

  • Starts 10 a.m.
  • Runs along Martin Luther King Blvd
  • Ends at McDonald Hughes Community Center

Registration to enter is closed, but all residents are welcome to show up and support the parade!

Juneteenth Celebration in the Park

This free, family-friendly event will feature live enterainment, food trucks, bounce houses, and a splash pad discount.

  • TIME: Noon to 6 p.m.
  • PLACE: Palmore Park

Residents are invited to bring tents, chairs, grills, and coolers. Music will be performed by recording artist Nathaniel Kimble, plus many local artists.
