2-Mile Race with Dozen Doughnuts at Halfway Point Returning to Tuscaloosa
A one-of-a-kind fundraiser returns to downtown Tuscaloosa late this month, with challengers running a mile, eating a dozen glazed donuts and racing back to the finish line.
The Annual Krispy Kreme Challenge, now in its 13th year, is set for the morning of Saturday, February 28th, in Tuscaloosa's Government Plaza.
As always, the race will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama, which pairs area youth, or Littles, with carefully screened mentors, called Bigs, who provide long-term support.

"The Krispy Kreme Challenge is not only one of Tuscaloosa's most fun traditions, but it's also about something bigger -- bringing our community together to support local kids through Big Brothers Big Sisters!" a spokesperson for the nonprofit told the Thread.
The doughnut-fueled fun returns at 10 a.m. on February 28th.
Participants will run a two-mile loop, and eating twelve whole donuts halfway through is strictly optional, although you have to undertake the full challenge to qualify for cash prizes. Otherwise, you can enjoy the Krispy Kreme dozen at your convenience after the run.
Other family-friendly fun is also planned for the morning of the race, including on-site activities such as face painting and games, prize giveaways, and more.
