Jase McClellan Scores Three Touchdowns in a Unique Way
Expectations are high for Alabama's running back crew this season, and against Mercer Jase McClellan shone the brightest. The sophomore running back has seen about as much time as Trey Sanders in rotation for starter Brian Robinson, but against the Bears on Saturday he made the most impact of any player on the scoreboard.
The electric young player picked up not only a rushing touchdown, but a receiving touchdown as well as a crazy punt block return touchdown. Fellow rising star Chris Braswell broke through Mercer's punt team to get a clean swat on the ball as it left the punter's foot, McClellan was joined by a convoy of Tide players on his way to the end zone.
McClellan has been a big time contributor on special teams since joining the Crimson Tide last year, earning player of the week honors from his coaches last year against Mississippi State last season. He also recorded the longest rush of the season by a Tide player last year for his 80-yard scamper towards the end of the fourth quarter against Arkansas.
Along with Roydell Williams, Alabama has a lethal sophomore running back duo of two players who would probably start and star at about any other school. While Brian Robinson has been stellar through his first two starts this year, Tide fans have nothing to fear next season as Williams and McClellan will join Trey Sanders and five star recruit Camar Wheaton in another stacked backfield.
