Local Communities Come Together To Provide Thanksgiving Meals
With Thanksgiving slowly approaching, everyone is probably ready to stuff their faces. On the flip side others might be wondering what and where will they eat for the holiday.
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful and appreciative of those around you and to give back to those who might not be as lucky as you. Some of the Tuscaloosa communities will provide opportunities for those who might not have a meal for Thanksgiving.
The annual “Mama’s Pantry” is one event that takes place during this month that gives back to others during this time. On November 12 from 11 a.m.- to 1 p.m., they will be giving free full Thanksgiving meals to those in need, as well as gift bags. This will be held at the Community Soup Bowl located at 1711 23rd Ave. If you have any questions or would like to help contribute you can reach the executive director Tammy Clark- Wilson at 205-765-7737.
The Mind Changers are also hosting their Community Thanksgiving Food Pantry which will be held at the Benjamin Barnes YMCA on 18th Street. Serving on a first come first serve basis this event will last from 10 am- 1 pm on November 14th. If you’re looking for more info, feel free to contact mindchangers1@gmail.com.
The 2nd Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner is back! This kicks off on November 14th from 6 pm-8 pm at the McDonald Hughes Community Center located at 3101 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. They will have a performance by Lock’d Band and Big Dawg DreDay will be their live DJ! Lastly, there is Mason’s Caring and Sharing which will have a Thanksgiving meal for those who are less fortunate, the elderly, residents, and families of the area. Sponsored by Stillman Masonic Lodge #490, this event will take place on November 21 at 11 a.m. at the F.O.P. Lodge. If you have any questions you can contact Aundrea Thomas at (205) 799-6808.
Sharing is caring and there is no such thing as too much help when it comes to your community, especially during the Thanksgiving holidays.
