One of West Alabama’s most meaningful spring traditions is making its return, bringing together community leaders, businesses, and supporters for a cause that continues to impact local youth.

The Mal Moore Memorial Golf Tournament is set for April 23 and 24 at The Westerfield Club, formerly known as NorthRiver Yacht Club. Now in its 37th year, the event honors the legacy of the late Mal Moore, whose influence still resonates throughout the Tuscaloosa community.

Presented by Coca-Cola and hosted by Greg and Regina Byrne, the two-day event combines competition with purpose, raising critical funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama.

According to the press release, the tournament helps provide safe spaces, mentorship, and opportunities for thousands of children and teens across the area.

The event kicks off April 23 with a cocktail party and auction from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring food, drinks, and a mix of live and silent auction items. Proceeds from the evening directly support programming for local youth.

The golf tournament follows on April 24 with both morning and afternoon rounds in a Texas scramble format. Teams of four will take to the course for a day that blends friendly competition with community connection.

Organizers say the event has grown over the years into more than just a tournament, becoming a space where relationships are built and support for local youth continues to grow.
