Alabama to Honor Mark Ingram at South Carolina Game
Former Alabama running back Mark Ingram will return to Bryant-Denny Stadium later this month to receive another major honor ahead of his official induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
According to On3, Alabama, the National Football Foundation and the College Football Hall of Fame will recognize Ingram with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute during the Crimson Tide’s home game against South Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with the game airing on ESPN.

The matchup is a fitting one for Ingram. During Alabama’s 2009 national championship season, Ingram produced one of the biggest performances of his college career against South Carolina in Tuscaloosa. He rushed for a career-high 246 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries as Alabama defeated the Gamecocks 20-6.
Ingram was announced as a member of the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame class on Jan. 14.
“Mark Ingram will always hold a special place in Alabama football history,” National Football Foundation President and CEO Steve Hatchell said in a release. “He was the school’s first Heisman Trophy winner, and he played such a huge role in that undefeated 2009 national championship season.”
Ingram became the first Alabama player to win the Heisman Trophy in 2009, helping lead the Crimson Tide to a 14-0 season and the national championship.
Now retired from football, Ingram works as an analyst for FOX Sports. He will become the 28th former Alabama player or coach to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He is also the third Crimson Tide inductee since 2024, following Antonio Langham in 2024 and former Alabama head coach Nick Saban in 2025.
As part of the on-campus salute, Ingram will receive an NFF Hall of Fame plaque that will remain on permanent display at Alabama.
His formal enshrinement is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 8, when he will join the other members of the 2026 class at the 68th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas.
