The Notorious B.I.G. Nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Even in his afterlife, The Notorious B.I.G.'s music is still garnering award nominations.
The Notorious B.I.G. is nominated for induction into the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In order to be nominated for the honor, artists must have released an album any time before 1994, making the 25-year minimum release date requirement. Biggie's lauded 1994 album, Ready to Die, makes him eligible for this award.
If Big Poppa does win this award, he will be among rappers like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A and Tupac Shakur, who have all been honored with an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. If the Brooklyn MC, born Christopher Wallace, is also inducted, he will become the second solo artist and the seventh hip-hop act in the award's history to earn the prestigious title.
Starting today (Oct.15), fans will be able to vote by typing their favorite artist's name in Google along with the word "vote" to cast a ballot with Google. Also, use Google to search for "Rock Hall Fan Vote," which will lead voters to the ballot casting website. You will have until January 2020 at 11:59 pm EST to cast your vote.
Besides Biggie, other nominees include Whitney Houston, Dave Matthews Band, Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Judas Priest, Kraftwerk, MC5, Motörhead, Nine Inch Nails, Pat Benatar, Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan, Soundgarden, T-Rex, Thin Lizzy and Todd Rundgren.
The 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in May 2020. Tickets can be purchased here.
