A 25-year-old woman was shot and killed in what was likely a road rage incident Friday night while traveling on I-20/59 on the outskirts of Tuscaloosa County, police said Saturday.

Captain Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said two vehicles were traveling east on I-20 near the 96 Mile Marker before Lake View when several shots were fired from one car into the other. The shooting started just after 9 p.m., Hart said.

One victim, a 25-year-old black woman named Zakia Bibbs, is dead after the shooting. Two others, a 22-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, were also shot, but Hart said there wounds were not life-threatening.

Hart said the Violent Crimes Unit is asking for public assistance to learn more about the shooting and who committed it. Anyone who witnessed the event or may have information about it is urged to call the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit at ‪205-464-8690‬ or TCSO dispatch at ‪205-752-0616 ext 1‬.
