A young man has been arrested after a shooting at Cypress Creek Apartments in south Tuscaloosa left a teenager injured Monday evening.

According to a deposition obtained by the Tuscaloosa Thread, investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit responded to DCH Regional Medical Center in response to a shooting victim who arrived at the hospital in a private car.

In the court documents, investigators said the victim and three friends were hanging out in the parking lot of the complex when the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Marlon Davinte Rice, approached the car some of them were sitting inside and began tapping on the windows of their vehicle with a handgun.

Police say one of the victims could not immediately get into the vehicle with his friends and was chased by Rice around the parking lot before he was finally able to get in the vehicle.

Rice allegedly opened fire on the car as the group sped away, and police said a bullet struck the car and the 18-year-old victim, who was hit in the left hip.

Rice was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, a Class B felony, and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he remains on a $30,000 bond.d
