Recently, I've been spending a lot of time on the road traveling back and forth from Florida and finding new places to visit.

Along the way, I've been able to find some amazing truck stops and stores.

I'll save the MOST AMAZING truck stop in America for a later time. For now, let's discuss one of the most recommended southern stores I've come across in recent years.

While on the road from Florida, I often found myself on Interstate 75 going through Georgia.

As I passed Valdosta and Tifton, I could tell I'd be getting closer and closer to the Alabama state line.

After traveling for some hours this particular day, I needed a bathroom break and a leg-stretch break. (True road trippers understand the need for a good leg stretch).

The place where I had decided to stop was some general store I'd never heard of right off 75 and Perry Parkway.

When I walked out of the bathroom I noticed that this store was also a butcher shop with fresh cuts of meat. I couldn't help but ask about the prices on ox tail and brisket.

Both were $7.99 per pound which was better than most places I've seen and they cut everything for you fresh if you can't find it in the display.

The general store is called Stripling's and is not one of my favorite places to visit while on road trips. You'll not only find fresh cuts of meats like sausages and steaks, but you'll also find those guilty pleasures that look like their fresh out of grandma's kitchen.

According to their website, they specialize in jerky, hoop cheese, sausages, and mayhaw jelly.

Their site states that they're an authentic, charming general store that boasts a full-service butcher shop, world-famous sausage and jerky, and unique Southern specialties that you can only get in one place.

They're a family-owned-and-operated business and have been giving customers a taste of the South for over 50 years.

If you're ever on 75 and have a little extra time, stop by Stripling's and take a look around. If the meat section doesn't reel you in as it did me, maybe some of their jellies, or sauces will.

After going to their site, I found out they have six locations throughout Georgia in Tifton, Perry, and a few in Cordele to name a few.

You can find out more about Stripling's stores here.
