School Closings for the Week of Feb. 15-19, 2021
With increased potential for severe winter weather this week, certain schools have decided to cancel or delay in-person instruction to mitigate safety concerns with travel.
This list will be updated as more schools announce their weather contingency plans, so keep checking back for developments.

UPDATE: Here is a list of school closings and delays for Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021:
- American Christian Academy – ACA is already closed Feb. 15 for Presidents Day but will have virtual classes Tuesday, Feb. 16.
- Tuscaloosa City Schools — The Tuscaloosa City Schools will close schools and offices for Tuesday, Feb. 16 due to winter weather predictions for the area. There will be no virtual instruction or extracurricular activities on Tuesday.
- Tuscaloosa County School System — All TCSS schools and the central office will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16. This includes extracurricular activities and instruction for remote learners.
- Bevill State Community College – closed
- Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama – All sites will be closed Feb. 16.
- Fayette Christian Academy – closed
- Fayette County Schools – closed
- Holy Spirit Catholic School – closed
- Pickens County Schools – closed
- Shelton State Community College – closed
- University of Alabama – canceled classes and suspended normal operations all day today, Tuesday, Feb. 16. Campus offices, libraries, recreation centers and medical centers will all remain closed, as will the Gadsden campus. Check the Bama Dining website for operating hours and locations. COVID testing appointments will be rescheduled.
- University of Alabama at Birmingham – closed
- University of West Alabama – closed
- Walker County Schools – virtual instruction only
Here is a list of school closings and delays for Monday, Feb. 15, 2021:
- American Christian Academy – ACA is already closed Feb. 15 for Presidents Day but will have virtual classes Tuesday, Feb. 16.
- Bevill State Community College – All Bevill State Community College campuses will be closed Feb. 15-16 for students, faculty and staff. The 2021 Spring Online Minimester registration will be extended. Follow Bevill State on Twitter here for updates.
- Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama – The Jaycee Park Unit, Southview Elementary site and Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary sites will be closed Feb. 15. Follow them on Twitter here for additional information.
- Fayette Christian Academy – FCA will be closed all day Feb. 15.
- Fayette County Schools – All schools in the Fayette County system will be closed Feb. 15.
- Hale County Schools – All schools and offices in this system will be remote only. Lunch pick-up, after-school and extracurricular activities are canceled Feb. 15.
- Shelton State Community College – Both Shelton State campuses will be closed Feb. 15 for the entire day.
- Tuscaloosa City Schools — The Tuscaloosa City Schools will close schools and offices for Monday, Feb. 15 due to winter weather predictions for the area. There will be no virtual instruction or extracurricular activities on Monday. Stay tuned to the TCS website and social media accounts for details about Tuesday.
- Tuscaloosa County School System — All TCSS schools and the central office will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15. This includes extracurricular activities and instruction for remote learners.
- University of Alabama – UA is suspending all normal operations for Feb. 15. All classes are canceled on the Tuscaloosa and Gadsden campuses.
- Recreation centers, campus libraries, University Medical Center and the Student Health Center will all be closed.
