Many families in our local communities are struggling with food security during the pandemic. Families are fighting to adequately feed their families due to job loss and are having to choose feeding their children and paying the bills. One local Northport church is preparing to give food to the West Alabama Community next weekend.

St. Mark United Methodist Church in Northport will hold a drive-thru food box distribution event on Saturday, February 20th from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.  The Church will be distributing 300 boxes of food items on a first-come, first-served basis.

“St. Mark recognizes the tremendous need for helping our community during this period of COVID-19,” offered senior pastor Bo Lloyd, “and our Mission Committee has put together this event that will provide enough food for a family of four for a week.”

The local food banks are currently running low due to the holidays and the new year is here and many families need to fill their grocery lists but the lack of income is creating problems. If you or you know a family in need of assistance with food please stop by St. Mark United Methodist Church for this food distribution event.

St. Mark is located at 1421 McFarland Blvd., in Northport right next to DCH Northport.
