Stay Safe: Alabamians Urged To Throw Out Recalled Smoke Detectors

Being from Florida, I know a thing or two about hot weather. Since living in Alabama, I've learned that the heat in Bama is unlike any heat I've ever encountered back home.

Sometimes the heat can bring about fires. The last thing you'd want is for a fire to breakout and you're not made aware due to a faulty smoke alarm.

According to Newsweek, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging people nationwide to immediately toss this companies smoke detectors due to the alarm failing to activate in the presence of smoke.

Talk about the worst case scenario! Imagine the horror of thinking your loved ones are safe with your brand new smoke detector and it never activates as promised.

The brand is CHZHVAN and the recall affects their Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. It's said that the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission received reports of the product failing to operate.

According to Newsweek, The recall was issued on May 16 for approximately 6,800 CHZHVAN Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. As of the time of the recall, no injuries had been reported, however the product could fail to activate in an emergency, prompting the CPSC to urge purchasers to immediately dispose of the product.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission says the China-based firm that sold the product has not been cooperative with the recall.
