Former University of Alabama second baseman Peyton Wilson has agreed to a full slot value deal with the Kansas City Royals. Wilson was drafted with the No. 66 overall pick in the 2021 MLB First Year Player Draft last week. His agreement with the Royals pays him $1,003,300 according to Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline.
The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team has hired former SEC Player of the Year Hunter Morris as an assistant coach. Morris was the 2008 SEC Freshman of the year and the 2010 SEC Player of the Year at Auburn University. He spent his last three years working as an assistant coach at UT-Martin.
Alabama junior pitcher Tyler Ras was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 14th Round of the MLB Draft. Ras was drafted with the No. 410 pick and became the fifth Alabama player and the third pitcher off the 2021 roster to be selected during this season's MLB Draft.
Alabama junior relief pitcher Chase Lee was drafted No. 164 overall in the 2021 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. The Rangers picked Lee with the second pick in the sixth round. Lee was Alabama's third player drafted in this year's draft and was the highest Crimson Tide relief pitcher selected since Thomas Burrows was drafted in the fourth round in 2014.
