As the state and nation continues to feel the impact of blood shortages, DCH Health System is encouraging the community to give blood.

This just in, according to Dane Usry, District Manager for American Red Cross Blood Services for Alabama, this is the current update on blood supplies for our region, INCLUDING Tuscaloosa and West Alabama. The American Red Cross is experiencing the most severe blood shortage in the past decade. The number of trauma cases, organ transplants and elective surgeries is constantly rising – and depleting the nation’s blood inventory.

Blood drives are important for the community. The Tuscaloosa branch of the NAACP has launched a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross on April 14, 2021.
