Friday night, the Northridge Jaguars (6-0, 3-0) took down the undefeated Gordo Green Wave (5-1, 3-0) 17-13. While these teams have deep football roots in Tuscaloosa county, this is the first time that both teams have played. Junior Northridge running back LiEric Street led the Jaguar offense by rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.
Football season is now underway- at least for high schools across the state of Alabama. Tuscaloosa County especially is seeing an influx of talent from all classifications. While all teams have only played one game, we are looking at several teams that have the potential to be battling for a ‘blue map’ at Bryant-Denny Stadium in December.
Our own host of Southern Fried Sports, Travis Reier spoke with Maurice Heard, Coordinator for Athletics of Tuscaloosa City School, and got an idea of how many fans will be allowed to attend high school games this fall.
