Report: The Weeknd and More Tours Postponed Due to Coronavirus

Following the reshuffling of SXSW and the Coachella Music & Arts festival, the coronavirus outbreak is also impacting the live music industry.

According to a Billboard report published on Thursday (March 12), Live Nation is considering postponing all major arena tours. This could affect treks by The Weeknd, Fetty Wap, Lil Mosey and others.

Earlier Thursday, Live Nation reportedly told employees that large gatherings worldwide are being canceled and therefore the company will be postponing current touring arena shows through the end of March. Live Nation is also reportedly instructing its employees to telecommute and not come into the office. The company's main office in Beverly Hills, Calif., will be mostly closed until the end of the month.

The Weeknd is expected to embark on his The After Hours World Tour in the summer. The trek consists of 57 dates in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and France. The tour launches on June 11 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and will hit major cities in Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Newark, N.J., Brooklyn, N.Y., Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Denver, Sacramento, Calif., Los Angeles, and more. The trek wraps up Nov. 12 in Paris, France.

Abel is touring in support of his upcoming project After Hours, which will be his fourth album and first since 2016's Starboy. The cover shows the Canadian singer with a sinister look on his face with blood dripping from his eye, nose and mouth. The Weeknd dropped the title track last month.
