If you haven’t watched the Netflix show ‘Fresh Fried and Crispy’ be sure to add it to your Netflix list. It’s a great show and entertaining too. Host Daymon “Daym Drops” Patterson brings his unique perspective to fried foods.

He drops in on the hottest spots across the United States. So far, he has checked St. Louis, Savannah, Las Vegas, Baltimore, San Diego, Denver, Cleveland, and close to home, Birmingham.

‘Fresh Fried and Crispy’ visited Alabama and skipped over Tuscaloosa. Daym visited Pursell Farms in Sylacauga, tasted Pig Candy, Thai Sticky Ribs, and more. Another spot was The Little London in Birmingham, where he devoured Fish and Chips. Also, he stopped by Yo’ Mamas in Birmingham, had got some of Ms. Denise’s famous fried pork chops.

Now, there are some spots in Tuscaloosa that Daym should have visited. Hopefully, he does an Alabama part two to experience some (as he would say) “fried up something proper” meals. Here is some of my hit list of fried and friendly spots.

Rama Jama - 1000 Paul W Bryant Dr, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

The Fried Green Tomato B.L.T is a winner.

Sharks Fish & Chicken - 208 Skyland Blvd E, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405

The chicken bites meal combo is a slam dunk lunch.

The Blue Plate - 450 McFarland Blvd, Northport, AL 35476

You haven’t lived until you had the Fried Chicken Livers.

Catfish Heaven - 2502 21st St, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

Just go ahead and order the 3 piece catfish combo.

Rock and Roll Sushi - 2229 University Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

Fried foods didn’t skip sushi. The fried Thriller Roll gets a chef's kiss.

The Avenue Pub - 405 23rd Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

My 2nd meal when I moved to Tuscaloosa included the Fried Chicken Sandwich. It’s a must every time I go.

Mae’s Southern Café - 4419 US-43 #5, Northport, AL 35473

I love the fried pork chops, they are very juicy. Also the fried green are like little circles of joy.

Southern Ale House - 1530 Mcfarland Blvd N, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406

Jesus, the fried pork skins taste like the Lord touched the hem of the cook.

Whole Wing Me, Please! My order is Half Kings blend and half sloppy sauce.

Glory Bound - 1301 University Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

Try the Glory Bound Favorite dessert. It’s fried pita chips, topped with cinnamon, sugar, caramel, and ice cream.

Cookout - 100 15th St E, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

The hushpuppies from Cookout are like little pieces of heaven. I was taught to eat them with butter.

Taco Mama - 2104A University Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

People typically pair the food to their drinks. I pair my watermelon margarita with the fried flounder taco. It’s the perfect summer combination.

T Town Café - 500 14th St, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

The country fried steak is a hearty and delicious meal.
