For the second and final regular-season matchup with the top-five ranked South Carolina Gamecocks, the Alabama women's basketball team fell again, this time by the score of 87-63.

Though the Crimson Tide finished the first quarter down by five, Alabama's clear focus was getting up shots. A strategy which would pay off for them as they came back and eventually led the No. 4 South Carolina Gamecocks at halftime.

Alabama's senior guard Jordan Lewis led both teams in first-quarter-points with 9, putting up 3-6 from field goal range, 2-3 behind the three point line, and a pair of steals. Before the half, Alabama had outscored USC 20-14 due to an increased shot efficiency and points off of turnovers.

The breakdown for Alabama began in the third quarter as they only managed to go 5-16 from field goal range and allowing a total of 16 points in the paint. And once South Carolina took over the lead in the third, they never looked back.

In the fourth quarter, the Crimson Tide was completely shutdown going 3-18 for field goals and finishing the last 10 minutes with only nine points. The tale of the second half for this game comes clearly from South Carolina's points in the paint as they outscored UA 22-12.

Jordan Lewis lead the way for the Tide in Columbia, S.C. with 19 points, five rebounds, and three steals. For South Carolina, Zia Cooke's 21 points and two rebounds along with Destanni Henderson's 14 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals would just flat out overpower Alabama on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Alabama falls to 12-4 on the season including a 5-4 record in SEC play. They'll get another shot at the top-25 this week as the No. 22 Georgia Bulldogs make the trip to Tuscaloosa on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 6:00 pm CST.

The one-loss Gamecocks will also take a mid-week trip as they travel to Auburn Arena on Thursday, February 4 at 6:00 pm CST to take on the 5-11 Tigers.
