Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s Mind Changers Bring Christmas Joy To West Alabama Community
Christmas is right around the corner but a local organization refuses to wait to bring some holiday cheer to West Alabama.
Mind Changers has been busy these last few weeks around West Alabama. “Over the last week, we’ve given away over 500 toys to various communities including Hay court, University Manor, Creekwood Village, various children throughout the community, and an organization in Eutaw.” Said Founder and CEO Rodney Pelt.
Some of their recent community efforts included giving out 100 free meals around Hay court apartments provided by Baumhower’s. Mind Changers also gave out 100 free turkeys to community members this week.
“Our purpose is to eliminate financial barriers people might face this time of year with COVID and other issues.” Said Pelt.
“We hope the community gains an aspect of love and to know that people in the community are really working to create a better quality of life for them. They are appreciated and they are loved.”
Cornerstone Full Gospel Baptist Church Senior Pastor Freddie Washington, Benjamin Barnes YMCA Executive Director Lakeda Smith, and United Steel Workers of America were all part of these recent efforts to bring joy to West Alabama. Shelton State Community College athletes and head Men’s Basketball Coach Joe Eatmon was also instrumental in bringing some holiday cheer to these communities.
When asked what the ultimate goal of such generosity was in doing all of this, Pelt responded, “We want to spread a little Christmas cheer. “
