Built around the message “Play for a Purpose. Give Back This Holiday Season,” the tournament will combine competitive basketball with an effort to collect toys for children and families during the Christmas season.

Teams will have five players on their rosters. Registration costs $125 per team, or $25 per player. Teams must complete registration and submit full payment before their spot is confirmed, and participants are asked to include their team name with payment.

“This event is about more than basketball,” Comedian LP said. “We wanted to create something fun and competitive while giving people another way to bless families during the holidays.”

The event is also designed for community members who do not plan to play.

Spectator admission is $10, but attendees can get into the tournament for free by donating a new, wrapped toy. The collected toys will support the Toys for Tots initiative.

“You can come hoop, come support your favorite team or simply bring a toy,” LP said. “Either way, you’re helping us make Christmas a little brighter for a child.”

Organizers are encouraging basketball players, businesses, churches, organizations, community groups and residents from throughout Tuscaloosa and West Alabama to participate. Teams can also use the tournament as an opportunity to represent their neighborhoods, businesses or organizations on the court.

Registration and payment can be completed using the QR codes on the official event flyer. Apple Pay and Zelle are accepted payment methods.

Those seeking additional information about registering, paying or participating can call or text 205-826-2595.

Organizers say the goal is to create an afternoon where residents can enjoy basketball while helping make sure more local children have something to smile about during the Christmas season.
