‘Illuminating Hope’ Fundraiser Coming to Tuscaloosa
This week in Tuscaloosa, residents have the chance to support a community program that many in the Tuscaloosa depend on in their most trying times.
Community Service Programs of West Alabama works to empower low-income and vulnerable populations by providing resources and services that resolve immediate needs and lead to long-term self-sufficiency.
Diaper assistance for families, utility assistance and elderly assistance programs are just a few things that Community Service Programs of West Alabama offers to West Alabama. Friday November 21st, at Shindig, comedian Meka Carey will host a fundraiser benefiting Community Service Programs of West Alabama.
Illuminating Hope is the name of the inaugural event and it will feature live music by B Spoon and the Recipe, laughter from Meka Carey and 105.1 the Block's Comedian LP and hope.

"My mother is my inspiration. She worked for Community Service and ran the Meals on Wheels Program until she died," said Carey.
"She loved that program and the people they served. I will always honor her memory by supporting this program."
Meals on Wheels delivers a midday meal to people who are homebound and/or unable to prepare meals for themselves in West Alabama.
"Meals on Wheels is a volunteer-based program (partially funded by the Tuscaloosa County Commission, FEMA, EFSP, and donations that provides dignity, companionship, and a sense of security for recipients, their families and caregivers," said Carey.
"This program is administered in collaboration with area churches that assume responsibility for the program on weekends."
Illuminating Hope will take place at the Shindig Family Entertainment Center Friday November 21st at 7pm. Those interested in supporting the event can purchase tickets by clicking this link.
