A 35-year-old Tuscaloosa man was arrested over the holiday weekend after he allegedly accused a friend of stealing Xanax from him and shot him in the stomach.

According to court documents filed Tuesday, the suspect, Landin Proctor, and the victim had spent time together Sunday before Proctor drove the other man to a home on Atlanta Lane in Coker.

Some time later, Proctor returned to the same address and confronted the victim in the driveway, accusing him of stealing the anxiety-reducing prescription pills from him earlier in the day.

The victim told police that when he turned out his pockets to show Proctor they were empty, Proctor pulled out a handgun and fired one shot at him.

The shot grazed the victim, but he was still taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he received several stitches for the wound.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the scene in Coker, and arrested Proctor there.

He was charged with second-degree assault, a Class C felony, and booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He was out on bond Wednesday morning at the time of writing and his mugshot was not immediately available.
