Because the global pandemic is still in full effect, the Tuscaloosa Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference made the decision to host virtual events for their annual Unity Day festivities to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.

In case you missed it, here is a link to the event from this morning.

You can watch it at your leisure to be sure you didn't miss one impactful morning.  Now, it's time for the Mass Rally, which is also a virtual event.

Dr. Clarence Sutton, Jr. is the speaker.

Wasn't that a beautiful rendition of "We Shall Overcome?"  If you missed it, you have to go back and check it out.

The beautiful thing about the events taking place virtually is that those with other constraints who would have liked to have attended the Unity Day gatherings can do so online and that it is easy to share.  There are no "you missed it" stories to tell. If you had to take a break for a moment, you simply stopped the video, right?

We thank you for participating in our day of service, and we look forward to gathering for Unity Day in the future when we can truly exclaim how grateful we are to see each other and to dwell together in unity.

Be sure to share this with someone, especially the youth who may or may not be aware of how prolific a speaker Dr. King was and how he made things happen without using violence as a tool.
