Tuscaloosa’s Powell Family Sells Line of Gas Stations
A family of Tuscaloosa entrepreneurs has sold their chain of local gas stations and convenience stores, bringing an end to the Powell Petroleum brand.
Tripp Powell announced the news on Facebook Tuesday, saying Midstates Petroleum purchased the company and will convert several Powell locations into Chevron service stations soon.
Powell, who is also deeply involved in local community service and owns many of the buildings in downtown Tuscaloosa's Temerson Square, said just because they have sold the petrol business doesn't mean his family will leave the Druid City.
"I would be lying if I said there wasn’t a hint of sadness over the end of an era, but I am truly excited to see what life brings next for our family," Powell said. "I deeply appreciate the kindness and support of our customers over the years, and I hope that we have served you well. Our family isn’t going anywhere, and we are so glad that Tuscaloosa is our home."
