Urgent Recall! Chicken Nuggets Possibly Contains Foreign Matter
Residents of Alabama should be aware of a significant recall affecting Perdue Foods LLC's chicken products.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall of approximately 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nuggets and tenders produced by Perdue Foods. The recall is due to potential metal contamination found in these products.
The affected items include:
- **22-ounce packages** of "PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets," with a Best If Used By date of "03 23 25."
- **29-ounce packages** of "PERDUE Chicken Breast Tenders," also with a Best If Used By date of "03 23 25."
- **22-ounce packages** of "BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets," with the same Best If Used By date of "03 23 25."
These products were produced on March 23, 2024, and are identifiable by the establishment number "P-33944" located on the back of the package.
The issue was discovered after consumers reported finding metal wire in the products, prompting the recall. Thankfully, there have been no confirmed reports of injuries or illnesses resulting from this contamination. However, FSIS urges anyone who has these products in their freezer to take action immediately. Do not consume the affected items. Instead, discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
For those who may have purchased these products online or in stores, please check your freezers to ensure that none of the recalled items are still on hand. If you have any concerns about potential health issues or require further assistance, contact your healthcare provider.
Stay informed and stay safe by keeping up with food safety alerts.
