This morning, the community of Tuscaloosa gathered at Veterans Memorial Park to celebrate Veterans Day with a special program. The program was free and open to the public and featured the Bryant High School JROTC Color Guard, elected officials around the state of Alabama, and keynote speaker Judge Tim Russell who is a U.S Army veteran himself.

The morning was filled with love, and support for our veterans, as the fight song was played for each branch of military service and each war received their own special time to be recognized for their service. I'm not a veteran but seeing the vets be celebrated and the camaraderie between the servicemen and servicewomen was amazing to see! For the hour that we were there, they really looked like they felt at home with a sense of understanding and comfort being among peers who share a similar experience in serving our country.

We'd like to send a huge thank you to PARA's Veterans Memorial Park Association, the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center and UA's office of Veteran and Military affairs for this wonderful event for our veterans.
