The college football offseason has been flying by and already, on June 6, college football nation sits at just 93 days away from the defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide kicking off its season against the Miami Hurricanes. The Crimson Tide's most recent superstar to don the jersey number 93 was defensive lineman, Jonathan Allen.

Allen came to Alabama as a 5-star recruit. He was the No. 2 outside linebacker and the No. 15 player in the 2013 recruiting class out of Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, VA.

He played at The Capstone from 2013-16 seeing playing time as a freshman in 13 games and recording 16 tackles. Allen went on to start at defensive end for the Crimson Tide for the next three seasons and finished his career second all time in career sacks at Alabama with 28.5.

Allen's senior year he recorded 16 tackles for a loss with 10.5 sacks. He scored two defensive touchdowns in 2016 and won a bevy of awards. He was named winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, Lombardi Award and SEC Defensive Player of the Year as well as being named Unanimous All-American. Allen helped the Crimson Tide win three SEC Championships and one National Title during his time with the Tide.

After returning for his senior season Allen was drafted No. 17 overall by the Washington Football Team in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In four seasons with the Football Team he has accumulated 202 tackles with 21 for a loss and 17 sacks. He plays alongside fellow Crimson Tide alum Daron Payne forming an intimidating defensive line for opposing offenses.

As we count down to Sept. 4 at 2:30 p.m. when Alabama will start its national title defense against the Miami Hurricanes, today we celebrate a Crimson Tide icon, Jonathan Allen.
