Why Stillman Means Something To Me

Today, I have the great pleasure of partnering with Stillman College and its Annual UNCF Campaign.  I adore Stillman College because it is our very own HBCU here in Tuscaloosa.  Why does Stillman mean something to me?  Because it reminds me so much of my time at Bethune-Cookman College (now University), which is an HBCU as well.  I know the impact that my college life had on me and my outcome.  Mary McLeod Bethune founded this place of higher learning and those years truly developed me as a person.  My dream is to teach communications at BCU or another great HBCU.  In effort to give back as a thank you for changing the direction of my life.  I know many with similar stories, and those include graduates of Stillman College.  Also, my time at Bethune-Cookman forged life long friendships, like the one I have with Anthony H. Brown.  He was recently elected as the 2020-2022 President of the UNCF National Alumni Council.  I remember our chats and the dreams we had about changing the world.  And he is doing just that through the wonderful platform of the UNCF!

Brown believes that “as HBCU alumni, we are charged with the moral responsibility to aid the next generation of scholars to become today’s leaders.”  So, I ask you … Are you a Stillman College Alum?  Were you a UNCF Scholarship recipient?  Do you remember how you paid for college?  Let’s do our part to assist Stillman College and their Annual UNCF Campaign, to raise funds for UNCF Scholarships.  Donate now at https://stillman.edu/give or by calling 205-792-5652 or 205-792-3376.  Because at the end of the day, “A Mind is a Terrible Thing To Waste."
