Will Alabama Make the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tourney Field?
With Selection Sunday on the horizon, the Alabama women’s basketball team currently sits in the "next four out" in the NCAA Tournament field according to ESPN’s women’s basketball bracketologist Charlie Crème. After a 2-1 stint at the SEC Tournament last week, the Crimson Tide has not been shy about stating its case to the NCAA on social media.
In arguably the toughest league in the nation, Alabama was one of three teams to win multiple games in the SEC Tournament. The other two were No. 1 South Carolina and No. 16 Kentucky.

Along with the two tournament wins, the Tide has eight SEC wins overall with two of those coming against ranked opponents. Alabama defeated then-No. 12 Tennessee back in February and knocked off then-No. 24 Georgia in the second round of the SEC Tournament. The Tide has also turned it up as of late, winning three out of its last four games and five out of its last seven.
After dealing with lots of adversity, the Tide is now mostly back at full strength and key players have been stepping up. In February and March, All-SEC honoree Brittany Davis recorded five 20-plus point games and two 30-plus point games, Megan Abrams recorded five 20-point plus games, and JaMya Mingo-Young recorded four double-doubles. A healthy Alabama team with multiple threats on the court could be dangerous for any opponent.
Will all of this be enough to get the Tide into the big dance?
The field of 68 will be revealed on Sunday at 7 p.m. CT.
