Stillman College Launches Women’s Flag Football Program
Stillman College is stepping confidently into the future of collegiate athletics with the announcement of Women’s Flag Football as the newest addition to its athletics program.
Competition is scheduled to begin in Spring 2027, marking a historic milestone for the College and reinforcing its ongoing commitment to opportunity, innovation, and student engagement. The addition reflects Stillman’s broader strategy to strengthen enrollment, enhance campus life, and expand meaningful opportunities for women student-athletes.
Women’s flag football has exploded in popularity nationwide and is now recognized as one of the fastest growing sports for women.

From youth leagues to high schools and colleges, the sport has gained serious momentum, especially across HBCUs and NAIA institutions. It offers women a competitive platform that emphasizes speed, skill, strategy, and leadership, while also opening new doors for scholarships and athletic participation.
By launching this program, Stillman joins a national movement that is reshaping women’s athletics through access, equity, and forward thinking programming. “Women’s Flag Football represents an exciting opportunity for Stillman College to expand pathways for leadership, achievement, and personal growth,” according to the press release from Stillman College President Dr. Yolanda W. Page.
She emphasized that the sport is more than an athletic addition and represents a long term investment in students and the future of the institution.
The Women’s Flag Football program will begin recruiting student-athletes in 2026 and plans to carry an initial roster of 20 to 25 women. The team will compete against a growing list of colleges offering the sport, creating new rivalries, new traditions, and fresh energy for students, alumni, and supporters to rally around as Stillman continues to move forward.
