Narcotics agents in Fayette County arrested 16 suspects at the end of an extensive, multi-agency, monthslong drug investigation Friday, District Attorney Andy Hamlin announced in a press release.

Hamlin said law enforcement agents seized more than $10,000 cash, multiple vehicles and several firearms during the sting, which he said was intended to reduce the distribution of narcotics in Fayette County.

The officers also recovered drugs including methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.

Hamlin said the operation was the result of a collaboration between his office, the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, the Fayette Police Department, Marion County Sheriff's Department, the Winfield Police Department, Berry Police Department and the Alabama Bureau of Pardon and Paroles.

“A lot of hard work went into this investigation. The participating agencies should be commended for their efforts and dedication,” Hamlin said.

The age of the suspects ranged from 21 to 68. The 16 men and women were charged with 51 total crimes between them.
