Nine select CVS pharmacies in Alabama, including the store in Greensboro, have been selected as new sites to administer the COVID-19 vaccine, the state's Department of Public Health announced Wednesday afternoon.

Beginning Thursday, the vaccine will be available at CVS locations in Bayou La Batre, Camden, Evergreen, Greensboro, Jackson, Lanett, Moulton, Tuskegee, and Union Springs.

The Greensboro CVS will be one of the first vaccination sites open in West Alabama's Hale County.

As the state is still in Phase 1B of its vaccination efforts, only frontline essential workers, residents who are 65 or older or qualified under Phase 1A will be eligible to register for vaccination.

According to the ADPH's post announcing the additions, patients must register for vaccination in advance using a specialized website or the CVS Pharmacy app.

Any qualified recipient without internet access can register for vaccination by calling 1-800-746-7287.

The vaccination expansion effort, spearheaded by the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, will also see more Walmart and Sam's Club locations across the state made available as vaccination sites.

Eligible recipients can schedule an appointment at participating Walmarts here.
